The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts meets Silicon Valley with sjDANCEco's 17th Season at the Califronia Theatre. Two works that premiered at the Keneddy Center in March will have their San José debut bringing our audiences the pathos of José Limón’s powerful masterwork “The Exiles,” inspired by the tumultuous exodus during and following WWII, and "Etched in Time" our group collaborative that explores the multi-generational experiences of its cast, including Artistic Directors Gary Masters, Maria Basile and Choreographic Advisor Fred Mathews. With live chorus and the San José Chamber Orchestra, the program also includes Maria Basile's riveting tribute to Nelson Mandela's "Inner Edge," Fred Mathews' powerful 1974 work "Chasm," inspired by the legend of Orpheus & Eurydice, and a world premiere by company artist Hsiang Hsiu Lin. This program resonates and celebrates our shared human experiences as we continue to investigate and define our place in its ever-changing dynamics.
