Circles Around the Sun was originally formed for the soul purpose of creating intermission music for the 50th anniversary Grateful Dead shows in 2015. Helmed by guitarist Neal Casal who has played with Phil Lesh, Chris Robinson and Ryan Adams, the group created a jam-intensive style of psychedelia that looked toward the past for inspiration while also firmly marching towards a decidedly modern sonic identity. The project was such a success that the group has since turned into a vehicle for Casal to tour the country and perform a characteristic style of meanderingly instrumental rock.
