John Vanderslice is a San Francisco-based indie songwriter who has been releasing one consistently solid album after another since 2000. Incorporating elements of modern folk, indie rock, classic singer/songwriter material and a touch of electronic experimentation, Vanderslice's songs are bolstered by hyper-literate lyrics that often center on problems he's seen in his travels across the globe. Vanderslice records straight to tape at his own Tiny Telephone studio, and uses mainly vintage and analog gear, all of which add a classy sheen to his albums. He's also lent his production skills to artists such as Spoon, Death Cab for Cutie and the Mountain Goats, further proving his strong voice in the indie rock scene.
