The electronic folk and indie pop artist Westerman grew up in London, where as a kid, he would sing in church choirs. He debuted with his 2016 album Harvard, whose songs are lyric heavy and folksy, supported just by his voice and guitar. But he felt the need to evolve as an artist. Westerman started incorporating other musical instruments which widened his horizon of possibilities and helped his transition into pop music. The release of his 2018 pop track “Confirmation” received thumbs up from his fans and critics alike.
