Every June, since 1970, parades fill the streets of many US cities to celebrate LGBTQI people and their allies. What began as a commemoration of the 1969 Stonewall Riots has now become a full-blown weekend (and even month-long) affair, fondly referred to as "Gay Christmas." Famous for its status as a tolerant, gay-friendly city, San Francisco is a popular destination for Pride. The city plays host to a number of Pride events, including the official Parade, the City Hall concerts, Dyke March, Trans March, the Pink Party and a slew of after-parties and other riotous occasions. On Sunday, there are a number of stages and performances to choose from, including country-western, homo hip-hop, an indie stage, an international stage and much more! Whether you're docked in rainbow mardi-gras beads and freedom rings or shouting political ACT UP! chants, chances are you won't miss this holiday. The events are open to anyone!
