Tom Lehrer epitomized the era of satirical humor in the 1950s and 1960s, writing wickedly funny songs that took the country by storm. "The Masochism Tango," "The Vatican Rag," "Pollution," "Send the Marines" and "National Brotherhood Week" are just a few, dishing humor on delicate subjects like race relations, nuclear weapons, gun rights, free speech and religious freedom. Today, most of these songs feel like they were written last week, not last century! Laugh and think in a whole new way as marvelously talented local actors at San Francisco's Shelton Theater take you into Mr. Lehrer's slightly off-center world. Friday night performances are the famous sing-alongs where the audience is invited to join in singing most of the terrific lyrics!
