Come From Away is a historical musical that tells the little-known true story of the events that transpired the week after September 11, 2001. With the entire world asking questions about the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, 38 commercial flights were ordered to land unexpectedly in the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, where they were stranded without news or information. Although the population of Gander doubled with the 7,000 passengers and crew, local townspeople sprung to action to house and feed the stranded foreigners. With music, lyrics and a book by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, and characters based on real locals from Gander, Come From Away is a testament to mankind's capacity for kindness in the most uncertain of times.
