Welcome to the 2019 Tough Temple Invitational!

As one of the larger clubs in the MDPV LWC, Tough Temple Barbell Club has been contemplating joining the local meet schedule for a few years. We are happy to shore up the Fall/Winter schedule, allowing lifters a last chance qualifying meeting for AO Finals! We want to thank all the local clubs we've developed relationships with by offering pre-registration on an invite basis. After a short pre-registration window, registration will open to all local clubs. WE WILL ALSO BE HOLDING A NUMBER OF SPOTS OPEN TO AO FINALS & NATIONAL QUALIFIERS. Individual clubs will be receiving registration links directly from us via email before the event goes live to everyone.

Even with pre-registration, we expect this meet to sell out quite quickly as it is a last chance qualifier to those on the bubble for AO Finals. By holding some spots in reserve we hope to allow everyone to lift without worrying about the meet selling out in the first day.

This is a TWO DAY/ONE PLATFORM meet. There will be 8 warm up platforms, with a full set of kilo plates & change plates for each platform. Extra plates for the heavier weight classes will be made available as well.

A waitlist WILL be created and will help us determine event details so do not hesitate to waitlist yourself.

See you on the platform!

Consider volunteering for any number of the following:

Signing up as a LWC referee

Loading during sessions.

Table assistance (marshaling, scoreboard, timekeeper)

Check-In

Floating tasks. We need runners that will help us with tasks as they come up.

To make our meets successful, we count on volunteers.

WAIT LIST AND SCHEDULE: If we reach our initial cap of 120, we will have a waitlist available to expand our max lifter cap.

The schedule will begin with the first session at 8:00 am on the first day of the meet. The schedule will generally begin with youth and progress from lighter weight classes to heaviest. Since the meet is two days, heavier weight classes can expect to lift Sunday, but a final start list will be sent out confirming individual athlete sessions and lifting times.

All aspects of the schedule are subject to change pending final registration numbers. Final start list will be released prior to the meet.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all current USAW registered athletes for the weightlifting portion. Join or renew expired membership through the USAW website (http://weightlifting.teamusa.org/membership-services) BEFORE September 30th, 2019!

Expired and non-members may not compete in a sanctioned meet in accordance with USAW rules.

Rules: Competition will be conducted under the current IWF technical rules.

One rule will be strongly enforced: USAW rules mandate that lifters control the bar down, maintaining contact until past the shoulders (i.e. do not slam or spike the bar). First violation will result in a warning to the lifter and coach. Second violation will result in disqualification for the meet.

Weightlifting belts may be no wider than 12 cm/4.75 in.

Athletes must declare their opening attempts in the snatch and the clean & jerk in KILOGRAMS at weigh-in.

Athletes and coaches will need passes for the warm up area. Athletes are limited to their two listed coaches (done at registration).

For more information on USAW/IWF rules, please consult the rule book located here (http://www.iwf.net/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2018/01/IWF-TCRR_01012018.pdf).
