Soft Machine

Soft Machine is an experimental psych band from Canterbury, England. Formed in 1966, the band quickly became an underground figurehead as it brought new elements of jazz fusion to rock and roll. With records like its eponymous debut, released in 1968, to its solitary album from the 1980s, 1981's Land of Cockayne, Soft Machine rose to acclaim as cult a figure before its demise in 1984. Over two decades later and a brief stint touring as Soft Machine Legacy, the band reunited in 2015 under its original moniker and continues to tour throughout Europe.
