Rock in Rio, founded by Roberto Medina, has created a legacy for itself as one of the longest-running music festivals in the world. Alternating between Rio and Lisbon each year, it has set up a biennial routine for itself while also branching to cities like Lisbon, Madrid and Rio. Since its inception in 1985, it has hosted big names belonging to various genres such as rock, pop and heavy metal. Queen, Guns n' Roses, Metallica, AC/DC, Prince, New Kids on the Block, 'N Sync, Iron Maiden, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Rihanna, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Shakira, Coldplay, Beyoncé are some of the artists to have graced its stage.
