Each year, the first Friday on or after January 19th marks the time when various eating establishments and community centers in Reykjavík organize eating fests and put out sumptuous delicacies in celebration of the ancient Vikings' mid-winter feast. Although these ancestors ate less appetizing fare in celebration of winter (Anyone for Pickled Ram's Testicles?), they certainly did know how to live it up in terms of celebration. And that is exactly what you can do in Iceland at this time of year - celebrate, sing, dance, and live it up, Viking-style! (At least until the Saturday on or after February 18th.)
