By far the largest and most important human rights film festival, One World, is organized by the People in Need Foundation. Under the auspices of Vaclav Havel, President of the Czech Republic, it features documentary films on human rights. The festival was created to enhance mutual understanding between people of different cultures, to increase awareness about human rights and to promote global responsibility, whilst, at the same time, encouraging dignity and inspiring solidarity. Some 80 films and videos from all over the world are screened, in conjunction with a variety of other events, such as workshops, photo exhibitions, concerts and debates, and an international competition of documentary films and videos.
