Certain figures of the hip-hop genre seem to be intrinsically connected with the style of music even though they themselves have never been an extremely well known figurehead of the genre. One of these individuals is the West Coast rapper Warren G. He was part of a rap trio in the early 90s called 213 that also boasted Nate Dog and Snoop Dogg. With a connect to the hip-hop scene--his half-brother was Dr. Dre--Warren G introduced 213 to Death Row Records, who decided to sign Snoop Dogg, not the entire group. Thus, the group didn't really amount to much, but each of its members have gone on to have fairly respectable recording careers. Warren G's biggest commercial success came in 1994 with the song "Regulate." Despite not having a tremendously prolific career, Warren G tours quite frequently and contributes to well known rap acts on a fairly consistent basis.
