Renee Rosnes is a Canadian jazz musician, arranger and composer. Hailing from Regine in Saskatchewan, she began her professional career in 1986 when she began playing piano in tenor sax player Joe Henderson's quartet. She went on to become a member of the Wayne Shorter Band, JJ Johnson's Quintet, and most notably, master tenor James Boody's Quintet, which she played in for two decades starting in 1989. As a band leader, she released her debut record Face to Face in 1989 and has since continued to build a discography or originals. Rosnes is also known for her work with SFJAZZ Collective and continues to work as an ardent side person with prolific artists like Dizzy Gillespie and in iconic ensembles like the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band.
