Shoalwater Islands Marine Park is a roughly 45-minute drive south of Perth and is home to several limestone islands known for their marine life. Depending on option selected, your tour starts with pickup in Perth or by meeting your guide at the starting point.

Receive your equipment for the day and hop in your kayak to take off on your first paddle to Seal Island, about 0.6 miles (1 km) offshore, where you should see sea lions. Under typical weather conditions (light easterly breeze), this section of your kayak tour takes about 15 minutes. Your itinerary then continues depending on what time of year you are traveling.

Point Peron (June to mid-September):

Continue to Gull Rock to look for osprey nests, and then to Bird Island to view nesting pelicans, cormorants, and other sea birds that live in the marine park. Finally, stop at Point Peron for a picnic lunch prepared by your guides. After lunch, set out to explore Point Peron, viewing rock formations and taking in the natural beauty. Paddle back toward Seal Island and return to shore to end your tour.

Penguin Island (mid-September to May):

Paddle about 30 minutes (1.2 miles / 2 km) to Penguin Island, where you'll land and enjoy a picnic lunch. Then visit the Discovery Centre, where some penguins are fed. After this, you have free time to swim, snorkel, enjoy more kayaking, explore the coast and caves of the island, or simply take a nap under a tree. Depending on time on the day, your guide may lead a nature walk around the island to look for shellfish, starfish, crabs, sea birds (including a pelican colony), lizards, and dolphins, plus enjoy views of the bay. Your tour ends with return to your starting point.
