Born into a musical family, Missy Higgins is a singer/songwriter from Melbourne who began playing piano at age six. She wrote her first song, titled "All for Believing" at age 15 for a class assignment and the track would go on to win radio station Triple J's songwriting competition Unearthed in 2001. By 2002 the song was playing on radio stations in Los Angeles, earning Higgins an international deal with Warner Bros. Music. Her 2004 debut album The Sound of White, debuted at number one on the Australian Recording Industry Association Albums chart. Splitting her time between Sydney and Los Angeles, Higgins continues to build her reputation as a prominent pop artist in her home country, taking several ARIA Awards for Best Pop Release, while collecting a fan base in the US. She released her third album The Ol' Razzzle Dazzle, in 2012.
