Ending a relationship with a girlfriend, breaking up a band and catching mononucleosis were three things that befell singer/songwriter Justin Vernon's life in rapid succession. Opting to seclude himself in a cabin in the northern woods of Wisconsin for a deep catharsis, Vernon ended up writing a lot of music to express his unexpected plight with life. The music he recorded ended up becoming Vernon's debut 2008 LP under his Bon Iver (pronounced Bone Eevair) moniker and helped establish the singer/songwriter as a well respected soft-spoken songsmith.
