Simple Minds is a Scottish band that formed in 1978 in Glasgow. The band originally started out as a cover group, but soon turned to writing originals. Simple Minds had its first taste of international success in 1985 with the classic hit "Don't You (Forget About Me)," which was featured in The Breakfast Club. Shortly thereafter, the band was booked for one of Bob Geldof's Live Aid gigs, and Simple Minds has been politically active ever since. Although its most successful records were released in the 1980s and 1990s, the band enjoys worldwide success and continues to release records on a regular basis.
