When the laid-back, Philadelphia hip-hop/blues band G. Love & Special Sauce entered its second decade, the group's eponymous front-man embarked on a singer-songwriter oriented solo project. Shedding much of his main gig's hip-hop vibe in favor of an easygoing pop sensibility, G. Love released a string of well-received albums that bear much of the thumbprint of some of his high profile adult alternative collaborators like Jack Johnson and the Avett Brothers.
