Probably best known for his work on the innovative 1990s sketch comedy show In Living Color, David Alan Grier has enjoyed a successful career as a comedian, an actor and an author. Born and raised in Detroit, Grier would later graduate with an M.F.A. from the Yale School of Drama. After dabbling in some radio work with NPR, he transitioned to Broadway in the 1980s before quickly finding himself immersed in the film world. Once Grier's comedic chops were allowed to shine on In Living Color, movie roles began pouring in, as Grier starred in popular films at the time such as Boomerang, Jumanji and Blankman. In addition to his acting work, Grier often performs stand-up comedy and in 2009, he released his first book, entitled Barack Like Me: The Chocolate-Covered Truth.
