Simon Phillips is a British musician who is prolific for his work as a drummer in both jazz ensembles and rock bands. Best-known for his tenure with the American rock outfit Toto, he is also a coveted session musician who has drummed for the likes of Judas Priest and The Who. Phillips released his debut solo album, Protocol, in 1988, featuring himself on all instruments and offering a record tailor-made to highlight his acute rhythms. Having steadily released his own material while also recording and performing as part of a number of outfits, Phillips has built an impressive discography of solo and collaborative material that demonstrates his virtuosic skill and dynamic style.
