The Advancing Precision Medicine-All of Us Research Program, created under the Obama administration, seeks to increase and improve medical research to create personalized medical treatments and cures by understanding why certain people get certain diseases and others don't ( https://allofus.nih.gov/ ). Given the history of medical research in communities of color in the USA and abroad, BCHN hopes that this meeting will also serve as a space in which community residents and medical personnel can discuss matters of concern regarding the ethics of medical research in communities of color and examine steps for moving forward.
The first part of the program will be launch of the Advancing Precision Medicine-All of Us Research Program at the Bronx Community Health Network. The second part of the program will consist of town hall discussions between Bronx community residents and representatives from the medical community on the under-representation of Bronx community residents in medical studies.
