The Cherry Poppin' Daddies exploded onto the scene in the 1990s during the great swing revival, along with the Squirrel Nut Zippers. The Daddies formed in 1989 in Oregon and the band's sound generally includes keyboards, saxophones and trumpets, in addition to the usual guitar/drum/bass setup. Clearly drawing from a roaring 1920s flapper vibe, the Cherry Poppin' Daddies are known for playing up-tempo, lighthearted swing.
