Prolific for her emotive, soft rock ballads, Sarah McLachlan is a Canadian singer/songwriter and musician from Halifax, Nova Scotia. With the release of her debut album Touch, in 1988, she first exposed her evocative mezzo-soprano voice and poignant songwriting to broad audiences, earning critical and commercial acclaim in the process. She rose to international attention with her 1997 record, Surfacing, which features the iconic piano rock hit "Angel."
