Miniature Worlds: Joseph Cornell, Ray Johnson, Yayoi Kusama:Miniature Worldsexplores the friendships between Joseph Cornell and pioneering artists – Ray Johnson and Yayoi Kusama – and brings their works together for the first time. By delving into the visual conversations and deep resonance that emerged from these two relationships, the exhibition offers a rare snapshot of the role social networks play in the process of artmaking. Miniature Worlds is made possible in part with generous funding from Agnes Gund and The Japan Foundation. The Rothko Room: Experience a single masterpiece in a room designed for individual reflection. This is the fifth in an ongoing series of works by Mark Rothko, presented by the KMA.John O’Reilly: Studio Visitations: From the mid-1960s until his death in 2021, John O’Reilly created hundreds of intricate polaroid assemblages that splice together found images, pornography, and snippets from historical works of art. O’Reilly’s often humorous and irreverent works are both deeply personal self-portraits and meditations on subjectivity on the erotics of looking.Visual Conversations: An Assemblage Studio: The Learning Center invites visitors to explore visual conversations in artmaking and experiment with creating collage and assemblage boxes that “talk” to each other. Learn how artists Joseph Cornell, Ray Johnson and Yayoi Kusama developed their own visual vocabularies.Visiting the Katonah Museum of ArtThe Katonah Museum of Art is pleased to welcome its members and the public to its galleries and grounds.
