Monique Angela Hicks is a comedian and actress from Baltimore, MD who is best known as simply Mo'Nique. While building a reputation as a stand up comedian, she first came to widespread attention as Nikki Parker on the television series The Parkers, which lasted from 1999 to 2004. Mo'Nique went on to headline some of comedy's most legendary venues, such as the Apollo Theater where she eventually became hostess of Showtime at the Apollo. In addition to stand-up and hosting gigs, which include her own BET talk show The Mo'Nique Show, she continued her television career in roles like L'Amanda on Ugly Betty, and even transitioned onto the big screen.
