[]
Book by Neil Simon Music by Cy Coleman Lyrics by Dorothy Fields Runtime: 2hrs SWEET CHARITY opened at the Palace Theatre on Broadway on July 15, 1967. It was an instant hit and earned its creator, Bob Fosse a Tony award for Best Choreographer. The Harlem Repertory Theatre is overjoyed to include this trend-setting classic musical in its 2019-20 season. The HRT’s production of SWEET CHARITY is converting our Black Box Theatre into The Fandango Ballroom – with a bar and welcoming male and female performers. Beer, wine, juice, and snacks will be available while the Fandango Ballroom boys and girls entertain you. This starkly realistic atmosphere will serve as a backdrop for the story of our heroine, Charity Hope Valentine who fights to find, “Someplace better than this….” Cy Coleman’s and Dorothy Fields’ amazing score includes the hits, BIG SPENDER, IF THEY COULD SEE ME NOW and WHERE AM I GOING. Please note that this production of, SWEET CHARITY is intended for MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY.
