Amy Ray is a Folk-rock singer-songwriter from Decatur, GA. She is the second half of the contemporary folk duo Indigo Girls which she had formed with her school friend, Emily Saliers. Ray has a flourishing solo career which took-off in 2001, she debuted with her album Stag. In 2018, she released Holler, an album which is doused in the South American way of life. With songs like “Oh City Man” and “Sure Feels Good Anyway,” the album is a presentation of the positives and negatives of the south. Ray is considered as the voice of people cause her lyrics often cover hard-hitting topics such as oppression, activism and immigration.
