Leela James

Leela James is a Los Angeles-based R&B singer/songwriter who released her debut album, A Change is Gonna Come, in 2005. With a throwback sound, that capitalizes off influences like Mavis Staples, Gladys Knight and Roberta Flack, the LP acted as an homage to the legacy of soul singers who emerged from the 1960s and 1970s. Having since continued to release a steady stream of well-received albums, James has also collaborated with a number of high profile musicians including Wyclef Jean, Raphael Saadiq and Kanye West.
