Canadian rock band April Wine came to be in 1969 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The following year, it shifted base to Montreal, where it signed a deal with Flood and Tarlton. The band's debut album, 1971's April Wine, included its first-ever hit "Fast Train," which made it to the top 40 in Canada. The band's cover of the song "You Could Have Been a Lady" became its first number-one single. Between 1974 and 1975, the band underwent several changes in its lineup. The band's next release, titled The Whole World's Goin' Crazy, became the first April Wine album to go platinum and the subsequent supporting tour the first to gross over a million dollars. Over the decades, April Wine has released numerous albums among which are The Nature of the Beast, Power Play, Animal Grace, Walking Through Fire and Attitude. It's most popular songs include "Sign of the Gypsy Queen," "Oowatanite" and "Bad Side of the Moon."
