The oldest of its kind in Germany, Flimmern & Rauschen is an annual film festival that highlights the cinematic talents of the nation's youth. Through the course of the festival, feature films, documentaries and short films created by participants below the age of 27 years are screened before a varied audience. Apart from inculcating a passion for film-making at an early age, the festival also offers young filmmakers an opportunity to network with and learn from professionals. The films explore a range of topics, often pertaining to current affairs and social concerns from a youthful perspective. Grounded, insightful and gripping, these films often do little to betray the tender age of its makers, many of whom are children, teenagers and young adults. The festival also features a special program for kindergarten and school children, alongside screenings best-suited to a more mature audience.
Please note that for 2021 the festivities have moved online.
