Irrespective of their ethnicity, Montrealers from all over the city come out every year for the city's rollicking St Patrick's celebrations, which have been going on in more or less their current form since 1824. The parade normally begins at noon on the weekend near March 17th at the intersection of Saint Catherine and du Fort. Many spectators and indeed some participants might join or leave the procession around Bishop, Crescent and University Streets, where Irish pints and music flow freely at McKibbin's, Hurley's and the Old Dublin.
