Michael Monroe is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who emerged out of Finland in the later 1970s as the front man of the glam punk outfit Hanoi Rocks. When the band broke up in 1985, he dove into various other projects but focused the majority of his attention on his own solo endeavors. Monroe released his debut solo album, Nights Are So Long, in 1987, embracing a harder rock edge while exercising his glam sensibilities on releases with Jerusalem Slim and the supergroup Demolition 23. He continues to record and release new material on his own and in sync with his vast network of collaborators.
