When the first incarnation of hockey appeared in Milwaukee during the winter of 1970, the Milwaukee Wings played as an amateur team. The club changed its name the next year to the Milwaukee Admirals and they played in the IHL as well as the USHL until joining the American Hockey League in 2001. Since their entrance, the Admirals have one Calder Cup (2003-04), four division titles as well as two conference championships. Moreover, their affiliation with the NHL's Nashville Predators has held since this professional team arrived in the Volunteer State in 1998.
