Canadian trio Elliott BROOD is an indie-folk act based in Toronto. The band is made up of Casey Laforet, Mark Sasso and Stephen Pitkin who all play a wide array of instruments including banjos, mandolins and lap steels. Elliott BROOD's instrument repertoire allows the band to create the earthy but commanding brand of folk that its mastered since its 2004 self-titled debut album. The trio has been acclaimed for using history to write interconnected narratives with its lyrics, particularly for its 2012 album Days Into Years, which was inspired by a World War I cemetery the band chanced upon while driving through the back roads of France. The story-driven album features themes of nostalgia, loss and reflection.
