This festival is more than a religious holiday. The celebration signifies the end of winter and welcomes the coming spring. Streets are decorated with luminaries while homes and churches light up with candles. The festivities often start with a parade of locals dancing through the streets to the local church for a blessing of candles and seeds. After the blessing family and friends gather at the home of the person who found the doll (muñeco) during January's Three Kings celebration. This fiesta is the final holiday party of the Christmas season. Businesses open as usual on this day.
