The Budapest Festival Orchestra is a symphony orchestra that was formed in 1983 by Ivan Fischer and Zoltan Kocsis. With musicians drawn from the cream of the crop of Hungary's classical instrumentalists, it has managed to provide Budapest with a new symphony orchestra with a well respected international standing. Though it regularly performs classics from well known composers, the Budapest Festival Orchestra is also known for commissioning new works from some of Hungary's preeminent composers.
