Chilean band Chico Trujillo is considered as one of the foremost Latin American bands to revitalize and re-introduce the genre of cumbia to a larger and younger audience. Combining the sound of reggae and ska with the folk traditional shuffle of cumbia, Chico Trujillo has inspired many other artists to use cumbia's distinct rhythm as a jumping off point for new sounds. Chico Trujillo have released many albums since their inception in 1999; its 2010 album is a collection of live recordings titled Alive and Kicking.
