Lia Ices is an indie/experimental pop musician from New York whose keen fashion sense, combined with an extraordinary voice and presence on stage, has catapulted the graceful musician to the forefront of the city's independent music scene. Her 2008 album, Necima, would be considered by many to be one of the quintessential examples of the burgeoning "freak folk" genre, joining the ranks of such indie luminaries like Devendra Banhart and Akron/Family. However, while her later releases continue in the same vein, Lia Ices seems to be more comfortable with experimentation as she attempts to create new environments and sensations with a sound that is becoming more and more uniquely her own.
