Join us Saturday, April 17 at 1 p.m. at the Sands Point Preserve to unite in a fun dance called the Jerusalema to support Plant a Row for the Hungry, Port Washington.

Over the past few months, Jerusalema by South African DJ Master KG has trended like wildfire on social media. Communities across the world have posted their version of the dance -- please see the video news coverage linked below. Now it's time to show the world what Port Washington can do!

After you register for the event, you'll get an email with an easy to follow, step-by-step video created by Port Washington's Danceworks, NY studio, which will give you a chance to practice the moves in advance of the day. When we gather on the 17th, (outdoors, masked and distanced), Danceworks Instructors will be on hand to lead us in a few lively rehearsals. Our final take will be recorded by a drone flying overhead and shared on social media to bring awareness and support to Plant a Row for the Hungry. For unity, please try to wear "Port Washington Blue and White."

We are limited by NYS COVID restrictions to 200 participants and we want this to be affordable; we are asking for a tax-deductible minimum donation of $20 per person. But this means we really need your help to get Plant a Row for the Hungry, Port Washington to its $12,000 fundraising goal. You can help by donating as much as you are able and by asking others to support this amazing cause. Consider asking your friends and family to "sponsor" you by making a donation in your name! To make an additional donation, please click here or go to https://www.plantarowforthehungry.org/donate

BONUS: Your ticket grants you free admission to the Sands Point Preserve starting at noon on April 17. Please feel free to spend the afternoon at this local gem - pack a picnic lunch and take a walk on one of the many scenic trails.

Plant a Row for the Hungry, a 501(c)(3 ) organization, plays a major role in our community in providing fresh produce --over 40,000 lbs. of vegetables are grown and delivered to our local Port Washington food pantries!

Your donation will fund the necessary garden fences to keep the critters from eating the growing vegetables. The donation will also fund grants for 25 students who will help maintain and harvest the gardens as part of the Summer Student Growing Program. All produce grown will be donated to the families who are food insecure in Port Washington.

Rain Date to be determined.

Thank you to Beth Horn at the Sands Point Conservancy; Miss Trish and Miss Cristina at Dance Works; and Cindy Witkow and Diane Livingston.
