If you are interested to learn more about the service design methodology and are passionate about making a difference for improving the life of the ageing population you can now register to take part in the Design Sprint.

This event is organised in collaboration with the Design Council

What is it? The Design Sprint The Ageing Challenge

The Design Sprint is a 10 days intense design work to develop and test a service design to respond to one of the challenges of the an ageing population.

You will be working in parallel multidisciplinary teams through all phases of the Service Design Process (Discover, Define, Design and Deliver), to research needs and develop ideas to improve the living conditions of the ageing population.

The work of the Design Sprint will be happening and documented live during the London Design Festival week at LCC and will remain on display until end of October 2019.

The challenge

The UK is undergoing a demographic shift that will have far-reaching consequences for society, the economy and public service provision. For the first time, Britains over 65s outnumber people under the age of 16.

The implications for an ageing society affect all of us, across generations and will touch every part of our lives, presenting challenges for individuals, families, communities, employers, service providers and government. Responding to the needs of people in later life is one of societys most crucial and growing issues.

We need to think in a radically different way, using the lived experience of people in later life, collaboration and community engagement to better understand their needs and wants for an improved later life.

You can read more about Transform Ageing on the Design Council website here: https://www.designcouncil.org.uk/what-we-do/social-innovation/transform-ageing
