A founding member of the legendary UK post punk group Joy Division, Peter Hook is a widely-respected bass player who has recently turned his attention toward a solo career. Hook was born in Salford, England, where he would later team up with Bernard Sumner in the mid-1970s to form the beginnings of Joy Division. Later adding Stephen Morris and the enigmatic Ian Curtis, the band's darkly intense style quickly became an underground sensation in the UK. The group's career would be cut short after only a few short years due to Curtis' suicide, leaving Hook and the rest of Joy Division to form New Order, a hugely successful project that embraced more pop and electronic influences. Throughout the 1980s, Hook explored production work in his free time, working on albums by popular British groups such as the Stone Roses. His current solo project, performed as Peter Hook and the Light, incorporates elements of the rock, pop and electronic influences he's explored over the years, while giving him a chance to act as lead singer for the first time in his storied career.
