Noises Off
[]
Noises Off is a 1982 play written by Michael Frayn that premiered in 1982 at the Lyric Theater in London. Split into three parts, Noises Off is a play within a play about a fictitious poor farce called Nothing On that's about a lewd comedy in which young girls prance around in their skivvies, elderly men drop trou and doors jarringly bang open and shut. With act one set during the dress rehearsal, act two showing a matinee performance a month later and act three seeing a performance near the end of the play's ten week run, Noises Off shows the subtle variations of each character as performers get more and more attuned to the individual they're playing as time wears on.
