Certain musicians posses the uncanny ability to write stoic songs that can viscerally affect the listener on a very humanistic level. Mark Everett is one such musician. His folksy singer/songwriter tunes aren't too instrumentally complex, or even lyrically dense for that matter, but tasteful orchestration combined with doleful vocals help to make Everett's Eels project one of the more affecting musical endeavors on the scene. While Eels hasn't been accepted with open arms by the general public, the group is a critical favorite and continues to receive praise with each album it cranks out.
