Written by Agatha Christie, The Mousetrap is a murder mystery play that brings the classic whodunit detective story to the stage. Originally a short story that was read over the radio, the story takes place in an old manor that has been converted into a hotel. When a guest at a hotel is killed, the couple that runs the hotel, their guests and a police detective are the only suspects. While the the surviving inhabitants of the hotel attempt to identify the murderer, tensions rise from the knowledge that the murderer is among them. Praised for its twist ending, The Mousetrap is a smart and compelling murder mystery that has served as the blueprint for many more whodunit stories since its West End premiere in 1952.
