Childhood best friends Luisa and Heloise began using household objects and furniture, including paintbrushes and plastic cups, as musical instruments in high school. Without much other musical knowledge the UK duo wrote a song, while biking to Paris at 4 a.m. on New Year's Eve, on a whim. They decided the result was worth pursuing and began working with Jemma (guitar, bass) and Dan (drums), forming the anti-folk band Lulu and the Lampshades. The band's charming, jangly, DIY instrumentation coupled with the lovely harmonies of Luisa and Heloise has grabbed the attention of music critics and fans alike.
