The brainchild of UK-based DJs Keith McIvor and Jonnie Wilkes, Optimo is the name of both their musical partnership and a Glasgow club they operated on a weekly basis. The two founded Optimo in 1997 with the intention of providing a club/venue that would cover everything from electronic dance music to live rock bands. As a result, popular acts such as LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip and The Kills have performed at the popular club. In 2010, Optimo's weekly dance nights came to an end, much to the chagrin of Scottish music fans. However, McIvor and Wilkes have carried on, using the name as the moniker of their DJ collaboration. The two remain active in the UK's vibrant electronic scene by spinning electro and techno at notable clubs and music festivals.
