Courtney Act CANCELLED
[]
Shane Gilberto Jenek, popularly known as Courtney Act, is an Australian drag queen and singer. Born and raised in Brisbane, Jenek would always dress up and sing, and attended the Fame Talent School at a young age. Having struggled with his identity all his life, he was drawn to drag after meeting drag queen Vanity Fair in 2002. Intrigued, Jenek took on the stage name Courtney Act, and entered and won the Diva Rising Star competition, thus earning her place as a drag queen. She became renowned during her time on the inaugural season of Australian Idol, where she covered songs like "I Am Woman," "You Don't Own Me" and "You Shook Me All Night Long." After completing the show, she signed a deal with BMG Australia and debuted with the single "Rub Me Wrong" in 2004. Low sales put the release of her debut album on the back-burner and Courtney took that time to work with the then up-and-coming star Lady Gaga. She moved base to the United States soon after and became the first Australian drag queen to be featured on RuPaul's Drag Race. She also created history in 2014 by becoming the first drag performer to perform with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. She returned to music that same year with the single "To Russia With Love," followed by "Mean Gays" and "Dear Santa, Bring Me a Man." Her most popular tracks to date include "AAA," "Fight for Love," "Heather?" "Ugly," "A Lacefront Like This" and "Stayin' Alive."
