Written by David Bowie and Edna Walsh, this piece is a musical re-imagining of The Man Who Fell To Earth by Walter Tevis. Scored by Bowie, the music includes new compositions as well as new arrangements of previously released songs. Bowie himself played the lead role in the 1976 film of the same name, and in fact, Lazarus should be seen as a sequel to the film. The story centers around a humanoid alien sent to earth to search for water but then finding himself unable to leave and falling into lonely despair.
