Underground icon Melt Banana has been championing its own breed of psychotic pop-rock since 1992. The Japanese experimental outfit has turned out some of the most fast-paced, extreme noise rock of its time. With a clamoring bend toward brutal electronically pulsed hyper-rock, Melt Banana is a boundary-pushing international cult phenomenon. Their extensive discography shows their shape-shifting ability for collaboration and experiment. After coming together as students at Tokyo University for Foreign Studies, the line-up experienced some tweaking before solidifying as what is now Melt Banana. Using effects and dissonant instrumentation, the band has managed to shake up the noise rock and punk scenes to their cores, pleasing manic crowds of thousands throughout an extensive touring and recording career.
